Casey
James Prestwood
Best known for his
groundbreaking work as lead guitarist and driving force behind emo/indie
cornerstone group Hot
Rod Circuit, Casey's debut solo album The Hurtin' Kind showcases his
life-long passion of honky tonk from the good ol' days of country rock n roll in
the 1970s, evoking memories of Gram Parsons and Merle Haggard. Featuring an
eclectic cast ranging from Arabella Harrison, front woman of emo pioneers
Jejune, to Neil Flanz, steel guitar player for Parsons himself, Prestwood's band
helps to flesh out his vision. Flanz describes the music best, simply stating
that The Hurtin' Kind is "refreshingly country. I haven't heard this
kind of music in years."
The Texas Sapphires
Recently voted "Best
New Band in Austin" by The Austin Chronicle and at the 2006 Austin
Music Awards, The Austin Chronicle best summarizes The Texas Sapphires by
simply saying "this is what country music is supposed to sound like."
With compelling guy/gal lead vocals and that authentic hillbilly back country
rock and roll sound, The Texas Sapphires are ready to take the country by storm.
"The Texas Sapphires are a breath of fresh air in the boiling pot of new music in the country
today … Inspired songs, great vocals and diverse band members that toss their respective musical influences into the ring ... The end result is a great listen.”
— Grammy award winning Producer Lloyd Maines
Filthy Jim
Lawrence, KS
based Filthy Jim is a blur of train-wreck madness condensed into one album.
Propelled by high-speed tempos that race by as if a prize was awarded at the
finish line, these guys have cornered the market on loud and heavy, drunken,
scuzzball rock and roll. This record makes you miss the good ol’ days of
Motorhead, Zeke, Mudhoney and Ride the
Lightning era Metallica.
The Only Children
The Only Children
is the latest project from Josh Berwanger, of The Anniversary, and his wife
Heidi-Lynne Gluck, of Juliana Hatfield's band Some Girls. Sound inspiration is
clearly Neil Young, Lightnin' Hopkins and even bands like Cheap Trick, Fleetwood
Mac, Guided By Voices and Modest Mouse.
